Rust rebuild of Photoshop tops the chart, OpenAI's model-written math archive lands second, agent reverse-engineering holds third

Fastest-growing this period

Counts come from GitHub's official stargazers/history endpoint: the stars gained on each day of the window. Project briefs and the reading notes below are editorial additions.

1. 1

   storytold/photocraft : Photoshop rebuilt from scratch in pure Rust, PSD files included

   Rust

   A clean-room reimplementation of Photoshop written entirely in Rust: layers, masks, adjustment layers, type and brushes, opening, editing and saving real PSD files. Every action is a command, so the same engine can be driven from the interface, the command line, a JSON control channel or an MCP server.

   openai/math : An open archive of math papers written by an OpenAI model, Lean proofs included

   Lean

   Math manuscripts and proof artifacts written by an internal OpenAI model while it was tested on open research problems: 722 manuscripts in 372 families, from the irrationality exponent of pi to the 3D Vlasov-Maxwell system. Many results carry Lean formalizations you can check with the bundled comparator; the rest are marked as not yet formalized.

   morluto/rea : Point your agent at any app and learn how it works

   TypeScript

   A toolkit that lets your coding agent reverse engineer software without source code: it inspects native binaries through Hopper or Ghidra, JavaScript and Electron apps, .NET assemblies and websites, then explains how a feature works with the evidence and the limits behind each conclusion. Analysis runs locally, and the same tools work straight from your terminal.

   eternity4719/HowToLiveBetter : Life advice that logs what you spend, what you gain and how solid the evidence is

   HTML

   A Chinese guide of practical suggestions on health, money, scams and legal traps, from chronic disease and first aid to rent disputes and workplace compensation. Each entry records what you spend, what you get back and how strong the evidence is, citing only journal papers and official documents, with an online search page for quick lookups.

   boykopovar/AnyPS5 : Run PS5 games natively on Linux and Windows, with no emulation layer

   C++

   Ports PS5 executables by relinking them into the host's native format and reimplementing the system prx libraries for dynamic linking, so nothing is emulated and no separate runtime is needed. A shader recompiler produces validated SPIR-V, SDL controllers map directly, and the compatibility list tracks verified games, led by a 2D platformer at a steady 60 fps on a GTX 1050 Ti.

   lexmount/moli : A headless browser that renders pixels only when an agent asks

   Rust

   A headless browser built in Rust for AI agents that treats page structure, not pixels, as the default. Reading a page as Markdown or a semantic tree skips layout and painting entirely; geometry, screenshots and screencasts render on demand and are discarded afterwards. Drive it from the CLI, CDP, WebDriver Classic or BiDi.

   Niko1221/Strata : A 125B-parameter model running on one gaming GPU, faster than you can read

   C++

   A one-click installer that runs Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, a 125-billion-parameter model that normally needs a server, on a single NVIDIA card with 12 to 24 GB of VRAM and 64 GB of RAM. It serves an OpenAI-compatible API on localhost, reports 60 to 95 tokens per second in its own measurements, accepts image input, and calibrates the engine to your PC.

   shader-effects-inc/shaders : WebGPU effects as drop-in components for React, Vue, Svelte and Solid

   TypeScript

   Over 200 WebGPU effects packaged as components: gradients, noise, glass, light, distortion, transitions and cursor trails that nest, blend and mask on the GPU. The same typed props work across React, Vue, Svelte, Solid and plain JavaScript, a free design editor exports the exact component tree, and a CLI plus an MCP server let agents install what you design.

   robbietilton/Compositor : A free open-source image editor that mirrors the Photoshop compositing workflow

   Swift

   A free, open-source image editor for macOS built around the Photoshop compositing workflow: layers with blend modes and masks, adjustment layers, content-aware fill and non-destructive transforms that keep full resolution. Import JPEG, PNG, HEIC and TIFF, export with a live preview, and modify any feature through the included Xcode project.

    DuarteSantos8/openGym : Track workouts on a gym app you host yourself

    JavaScript

    A self-hosted workout and body-weight tracker: plan routines, run guided sessions with exercise demos, and log every set and weigh-in from your phone behind your own passkey login. It imports existing history from FitNotes, Strong and Hevy, so your training data stays on your server instead of inside a subscription app.
